Hello, my name is Tomas El Rayess, I am a chef, artist, writer and I came to this world to heal my body and soul.


I was born in Cali, Colombia. On both sides of my family there have been many chefs and doctors. 


I grew up in Paris and my quest to make sense of my existence, find my place in the world and enjoy this delicious connection with life has led me to live in Tokyo, Rio, NY, Los Angeles and travel the world.


Through food, breath, sound, sound, movement, sport and all activity that brings me back to the present through my body, I receive knowledge and pleasure from being here on earth and being human, being able to heal and help others to heal as well.


At my gut health company, Fuego Ancestral, we offer a variety of foods that I have created inspired by recipes from around the world, integrating ancestral nourishing traditions from the Amazon, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda and today's science of longevity and wellness.

I have been cooking and creating since I was 8 years old and life has led me on this path of healing, creation and enjoyment through reconnecting with my body, my emotions and the natural world in a journey that is often demanding and deeply challenging.


I specialized in inner health out of necessity. 


This took me around the world to NY where I began producing Beyond Food The Movie, a documentary I released in 2017 worldwide from LA, which captured that adventure of desperate search for answers and healing.

It was in LA in 2016-2017 that I created my first fermented chili, an assemblage of recipes from Thailand and Mexico and my inspiration. At that time Fuego Ancestral was still called Ancient Fire.

​

My main purpose is to offer you delicious medicine that integrates ancestral traditions of caring for body, soul, and vital energy.

​

These foods get to your mouth through an ecosystem of relationships that starts in the soil, and weaves itself through farmers, soil scientists, and everyone else along the way until they reach our kitchen and finally, your home and your body.

​

 

As we say in Fuego Ancestral, we do everything with love, not for love, and in the same way we take care of this ecosystem, with love and gratitude.

Tomás El Rayess specializes in helping you grow a strong gut and self through soul work, authenticity, and the delicious medicine that is food.

 

He has traveled the world from a young age and collected knowledge, experience and recipes which he turned into a system integrating ancestral nourishing traditions and science. His gut health work focuses on the main food groups to restore your gut health and metabolism.

 

Tomás grew up differently than most people. Surviving trauma made him seek tools to make sense of his body, soul, and place in the world. He has created a system to bring your soul fully home to your body, refine your values, needs, desires, beliefs and personal practice for an intentional life.

 

Tomas is the producer and co-director of Beyond Food The Movie (2017). Creator and Host of the Masters of Regeneration Radio podcast. Founder and Director of Fuego Ancestral Gut Health & Probiotic Provisions.

 

He works in regenerative alliances for human and ecological health with the goal of enhancing the richness of the human experience through the creation of personal systems, connecting universal human patterns with living system dynamics and natural cycles of regeneration. 

 

He does this through food, gut health, Self healing, inner arts, ancestral nourishing traditions, science and communication in a wide variety of platforms: documentaries, writing, publications, talks, workshops, retreats and recipe formulation.

 

He speaks fluent English, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and has a working command of Japanese and Italian.

 

He is an award-winning international artist, photographer and multimedia producer, did his MFA in Multimedia Arts at Nihon University in Tokyo on a Japanese government scholarship awarded to only 5 people per year, and lived 10 years in the US on an O1 visa for citizens of extraordinary ability. 

 

His work has been exhibited in Japan, Brazil, Colombia and the United States, and now worldwide with the release of his documentary, Beyond Food.
